First things first.
Deprecated, it's a weird word, don't you think? EMC uses it all over its
System Level Changes announcement. You may not need to look up what it means, but we did. Here's what we found.
Deprecated, according to Wiktionary.org means:
1.(formal) to express disapproval of
2.(computing) to discontinue
3 (archaic) to prey against
So, now that we have determined that DISCONTINUED is the definition we want, here's what's GONE, GONE, GONE in D6.
Say ta-ta to:
BOF1 functionality
BOF2 will replace it. dbor.properties for BOF1 will remain in this release but are destined to disappear in the next major release. WMC has converted its BOF1 code to BOF2.
Router Functionality
Routers which have been deprecated since 4.0, will not be supported in D6. Existing routers will be replaced by workflows. (This from an EMC software announcement.)

Content Transfer Applet
When they ship your copy of D6. the content transfer applet won't be in the box. EMC says to use UCF in its place.
What is UCF? We know you know, but we didn't. And just in case there's anyone out there like us, UCF stands for Unified Client Facilities. Why should you care?
In Documentum UCF is the Standard Technique to transfer Content from server to client. Integrated into all 5.3+ Documentum web applications it uses a small applet to trigger a java process that transfers content in the background.
Now, of course, no intelligent company takes something away without replacing with something better, right?
Well EMC is planning to do a whole lot more than "something better" with D6 - it says it's unveiling the next generation of Content Management - Enterprise Information Infrastructure.
