More on Dewalt's Departure
March 15, 2007

I was chatting up a Documentum (excuse me, EMC) employee today and asked what she thought the impact of DeWalt's departure would be. "We'll miss him," was the answer. Rather than to tell you what predictions I've heard...

I'll point you to John Newton's blog.

Newton is a gentleman. He gives credit where credit is due. Though he and Howard Shao founded Documentum, he acknowledges that DeWalt brought it into the WCM space. I wonder if Java appeared in the Documentum world not too long after Dewalt joined the firm. It's all history now, but I'm sure it's ripe with lessons.

It seems that Razmik Abnous will be the new CTO. He was one of Documentum's original engineers. Who's going to run the business part of EMC's software arm? I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime I hope to watch and comment on Razmik's webcast, TechRepublic's link is broken as I write.
